The tendons of the gluteal muscles, especially the gluteus minimus and gluteus medius, can experience tiny microtears over time, leading to gluteal tendinopathy —that is, tendon pain. This type of overuse injury is often caused by poor control of the hip and gluteal muscles, which ends up putting undue stress on the tendons. For example, repetitive overloading can cause tendinosus a gradual degeneration of collagen fibers in the tendons.
Sometimes, gluteal tendinopathy teams up with trochanteric bursitis inflammation of one of the fluid-filled sacs around the hip joint to cause Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome , pain on the buttock s and the outside of the hip s. One of the things you can do to prevent this is to care of your glutes and hip flexors psoas, quadriceps as they are responsible for powering almost every movement we perform, whether that be running, jumping or walking.
When our glutes and hip flexors are strong and flexible it allows us to perform the movements of daily life efficiently and without pain. So, what can you do to help keep the hip area strong and flexible to allow for optimal mobility?
