Although I have absolutely nothing good to say about the Conservatives, I am going to be voting for Boris. The whole thing has become farcical, with the same candidates standing repeatedly, and is certainly more of a popularity contest than a political decision.
I like the fact that Boris is unafraid to speak out against his party. I would much prefer to be made to laugh by Boris than to squirm at Ken! Quite simply I agree with more of her ideas on London than any of the other candidates, in particular, her approach to schools.
I also think that mayors should be free from affiliation to the main parties. Independent candidates offer us a better chance of dealing with local issues without needing to toe a central government line. It just seems saner. Boris is fresh and we need that for a new decade.
I loathe Ken, I think he has come to resemble one of his newts. I like Boris in a cuddly golden retriever way, but I could never vote Tory. And anyway, those Boris bikes are an eyesore. I love what Boris does with bikes and the environment. Ken engages with young people and has good policies on reducing crime and violence.
